As we expand into Morton Grove, IL, we’re seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to lead this exciting new venture.

About the Role:
The Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) is a hands-on management position responsible for overseeing all aspects of pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.

This role is ideal for a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving performance, quality, and exceptional service in long-term care pharmacy.

The PIC will serve as a working leader and will be actively involved in pharmacy operations, including order review, verification, dispensing, staff supervision, and clinical support. This is a new start-up pharmacy location for the region, providing the opportunity to help build and establish the operation from the ground up.

The PIC will report directly to the Director of Pharmacy Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations and SOPs.
  • Serve as a working leader by actively participating in order review, verification, and dispensing processes.
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness, including drug selection, dosing, potential interactions, and administration.
  • Ensure medications are accurately dispensed, labeled, and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with facility staff, physicians, and nurses to resolve medication-related issues and provide clinical recommendations.
  • Supervise, train, and support pharmacy staff while fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and teamwork.
  • Maintain proper documentation, including controlled drug logs, and ensure the security and integrity of all medications.
  • Maintain and update patient profiles, including medical history and relevant clinical data.
  • Perform on-call duties as required.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure the pharmacy remains prepared for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Help establish operational workflows, procedures, and best practices for the new Morton Grove location.

Qualifications:
  • Active Illinois Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • 5–10 years of pharmacy experience in hospital, retail, or long-term care settings.
  • Prior Long-Term Care pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems; FrameworkLTC/ECM experience is a plus.
  • Previous pharmacy start-up experience preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a hands-on operational leadership role.
